Jase Prewett of Brookfield Homes San Diego Named Certified Green Building Professional

June 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Jase Prewett, director of purchasing for Brookfield Homes San Diego has been designated a Certified Green Building Professional (CGBP) by Build It Green, a membership supported non-profit organization that administers the Green Point Rated program.

Certified at the end of March, Prewett received 16 hours of instruction, culminating in a comprehensive examination, which he passed with a 99 percent score. This designation qualifies building professionals to provide green building services and must be renewed every 24 months.

Two years ago, Prewett was tasked with creating a business plan for Brookfield’s entry into the local green building movement.  A purchasing veteran, he was uniquely qualified to analyze and specify new products and systems for Brookfield’s first eco-savvy community, Rockrose at The Foothills in Carlsbad.  

“Jase has spent the past two years learning the green building process from the ground up,” said Steve Doyle, president of Brookfield Homes San Diego/Riverside Division.  “We are proud to see his journey continue with the Certified Green Building Professional certification.”

With Prewett specifying systems to achieve both water and energy efficiency, Rockrose at The Foothills opened in March 2010. The Carlsbad neighborhood is currently acknowledged as the most energy efficient new home community in San Diego County, applauded by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and by San Diego Gas & Electric. Homes at Rockrose exceed California standards for energy efficiency by at least 35 percent.

Under Prewett’s direction, Brookfield has incorporated six areas of eco-savvy concentration into Rockrose homes, including energy and water conservation, indoor air quality, recycling, sustainable materials and renewable energy.
