Follow on Google News | Five NSCS Members Awarded Scholar at Sea ScholarshipsThe National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is proud to announce the 2010 recipients of the summer semester Scholar at Sea scholarship.
Congratulations to the following NSCS members: • James Taylor, The University of Arizona • Kristina Connors, Stony Brook University • Stephen Freudenberg, The University of Georgia • Jacqueline Diaz, The Pennsylvania State University • Isabela Negrin, The University of Pittsburgh Partnering with the Semester at Sea program, NSCS presents five $2,000 scholarships each summer semester and one $7,000 scholarship for the fall and spring semesters, to members participating in the Semester at Sea program. The University of Virginia sponsors the Semester at Sea program and grants credit for more than 70 courses. “Semester at Sea is a highly rewarding experience for college students,” said Steve Loflin, Executive Director and Founder of NSCS. “We strive to open doors and create opportunities for our members to become active, engaged citizens of the world. The Scholar at Sea scholarship is one way we encourage our members to grow from studying abroad.” The five members will have four to six days at each port and will be visiting a total of eight countries: Spain, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Morocco, Nova Scotia, Turkey and Egypt. # # # NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation's only interdisciplinary honors organization to invite first and second year college students.
