In the aftermath of a smashing victory, in which she won over 58% of the vote and 54 out of 58 counties, including the home county of her opponent, in yesterday's American Independent Party (AIP) primary election, Chelene Nightingale thanked those who worked for her and voted for her and issued a call to the people of California to "throw aside partisan labels and considerations and join our 'We The People' campaign, as we move into the General Election, to save our state from the plutocrats and the socialists who continue to seek more and more control over the lives of Californians through bigger and more oppressive government."
"I've got news for Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown," declared Nightingale, "the answer for California's problems is not more corporate power or more government power... the answer for California's desperate problems is to unleash the power of 'we the people' by freeing Californians from the yoke of oppressive taxation and over-regulation and by cutting the size of government and reducing government spending. We will make California a profitable state for businesses and businesses will create jobs for our citizens. These are things that my two special interest opponents can't and won't do, no matter what their rhetoric may say to the contrary."
Nightingale, who is extremely popular with Tea Party groups across California and who was recently endorsed by former Colorado Congressman, Tom Tancredo, takes a strong stand for the 10th Amendment of the US Constitution as a means of empowering the state to deal with some of its most acute problems. "When I am elected Governor of this state the water in the Central Valley will start to flow once more. People are more important than fish! This state's economy and the environment of our bountiful central valley has been devasted by the insane decision to turn off the water. I stand with the people of this state and if the federal government doesn't like it, that is just too bad," said Nightingale.
"Likewise, if the federal government will not to its job to secure our borders and protect the people of California from invasion by illegal aliens, as your Governor, I will! I support SB 1070, which was recently enacted in Arizona and I would remind the people that California already has such a law; which as Governor I will enforce. Further, I will take action to send our national guard to the border to protect the lives and safety of Californians,"
"We can do better than a corporate elitist who paid over $64 per vote in this primary or a "last hurrah" candidate who was first elected Governor before several generations of our voters were even born. We can do better and we will do better. I invite every Californian, no matter what your party affiliation, to visit our website at www.nightingaleforgovernor.com and then join our "We The People" campaign to turn our state around and make it the great Golden State that we all know it can be." concluded Nightingale.
