Wally Edgar Chevrolet Gears Up For The Volt

June 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Production of a "one off" product or "niche" car has not given very many past Automotive products a very long shelf life. In the case of the soon to be built Chevrolet Volt  it won't be
a future Orphan.
The Opel Ampera with production scheduled for fall shares most of the Volt technology.
Like the Volt, the Ampera is a five-door hatchback, and it rides on the same Delta 2 global compact architecture. The production version of the Ampera is due in late 2010 or early 2011 and is expected to be marketed in Europe under the Opel and Vauxhall brands.
The Ampera is rumored to be sold in China under the Buick badge.

Future products include The Chevrolet Volt MPV5 concept that uses the same active grille as the Volt sedan. Combine the Volt's series-hybrid powertrain with a small crossover that looks a lot like the Chevrolet Orlando concept, and you get the Volt MPV5 concept that Chevrolet rolled out at the Beijing motor show this Spring.
The Volt MPV5 concept adopts some styling features from the Volt sedan to reduce aerodynamic drag--a grille with active openings that close to smooth airflow over the car and a pan that closes off the underside. The concept also builds upon the Volt platform.

Unlike past product launches the Volt seems poised to evolve into a series of future product innovations.
