More people seeing contracting as 'ideal work choice'

June 10, 2010 - PRLog -- More and more people are seeing flexible working as their ideal work choice, according to the Professional Contractors Group (PCG).

The body's managing director John Brazier stated that contracting can be a "positive and rewarding" lifestyle choice for many UK professionals.

Speaking to ContractorCalculator, he announced the PCG is to hold a National Freelancers Day on November 23rd 2010.

He said: "The success of last year's events underlined the growing importance of the freelance community to the economy of the UK."

Mr Brazier explained that the theme of this year's day of celebration for contractors is based around the idea of freeing up potential.

ContractorCalculator chief executive officer Dave Chaplin added: "Contracting has become a mainstream alternative to employment."

Earlier this month, Mr Chaplin stated that the government must ensure any new tax measures introduced must be fair to contractors.

He said proper planning and thought needs to go into tax reform to make sure contractors are not left to pick up the tab for others' savings.
