June 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Melbourne, Australia – During June, the nearly one million university students in Australia will retreat into libraries, bedrooms and quiet cafes to cram for mid-semester exams.

As they face the moment of truth for the semester, Twitter is a buzz with students looking for the best “brain food” or drink to supercharge their brains and give them an edge.

A search reveals that top brain foods being traded by students across the Twitter-sphere include: bananas, fish, berries, cheese, mushrooms, oatmeal and even crocodile brains!

It is a well known fact that chowing down on fast food and energy drinks will do more harm than good. Getting the right nutrients during exam prep not only boosts your body, it can also improve academic performance on the big day.

According to the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA), the right food and drink is one of the keys to exam success. (1)

The DAA assert that what we eat has a big impact on mental performance, so students need to give their brains the right fuel to help it perform at its peak. The association points out that eating energy bars, lollies and chocolates will give students a short-term spike in energy, but it doesn’t last.

Sunraysia has the right answer for students looking for a brain boost – its new Blueberry Juice drink. Known as ‘brain berries,’ blueberries are fast earning a reputation as one of nature’s brain foods thanks to their high level of antioxidants.

Emerging research shows blueberries can help improve your memory, with a recent study recording a 40 per cent improvement in adults that drank blueberry juice every day. (2)

Australian juice company Sunraysia has introduced the first Blueberry Juice drink to be widely available on supermarkets shelves nationally, and with 450 blueberries packed into every 750mL bottle it is a delicious way to boost the intake of blueberries in the lead up to exams.

Justin Presser, Sunraysia’s Group Managing Director, said: “Preparing for exams isn’t just about cramming facts and figures into your brain, it’s also about making sure that you’re giving your body the right nutrients to do your best.”
