"Keywords Density" means the number of times or percentage the keywords appear in your page content. Usually higher percentage means a better ranking, but this is a doubled edge sword where if you abuse this technique you can be banned from Google for good. The recommended percentage is 6-10%, that means if you are trying to rank for the keyword "used cars" then you should double check for how many times that keyword appears.

The concept of keywords density has been known to the SEO specialists for years, and due to this factor the technique has been wildly abused by the developers for years. There was the same font color on the same colored background, there was JavaScript generated keywords hidden to the viewer. Google now is paying close attention to the keywords appear in your content to make sure the sentence makes sense, and keywords are not been "stuffed" on to the page. The penalty for such practice is been black listed by Google, and you will be thrown out the search engine all together.

The experienced developer will tell you the ideal percentage of keywords density is less than 10%. This is not a simply made up concept but a real time tested and true rule Google uses to judge your web content. So be sure the next time you are using the keywords density technique make sure not to over do it. Been banned from Google can do some real damage to your online business or reputation.
