Handyman Services Canton - Consumer Tips from Canton Handyman: Vinegar versus Drain Cleaner

June 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Canton, MI – Keith Paul, President of HandyPro Handyman Services in Canton recently published an article with 15 home uses for vinegar.  Keith provides handyman services for homeowners and businesses in the Plymouth, Ann Arbor and Livonia area in Southeast Michigan.  He also has a radio show where consumers can call in with questions.

What is so great about plain white vinegar?  Keith Paul explains, “Consumers are becoming more aware of the harmful effects that certain cleaning products can have on the environment.  Some can leave a residue behind that is harmful to pets and children.  Others are just very expensive products with fancy names and attractive labels.”

“What if your child swallowed drain cleaner?” asked Paul.  “This could be devastating!  It would be nearly impossible to prevent permanent injury, even if you get help quickly.  Now, what if you could substitute items that you already have in your kitchen to unclog a drain?  Try mixing equal parts of white vinegar and baking soda, pour it down the drain, cover, let stand for a few minutes, and rinse it down with a pot of boiling water.”

Would a child become ill if they ate moth balls?  Of course they could!  2 parts vinegar and 1 part molasses placed in a yellow container will attract and contain moths.

According to Paul, many of the uses for vinegar provide the benefit of eliminating the need for harmful, caustic products in the home.  Replace toilet cleaner with vinegar and baking soda.  Use it as an odor remover, carpet cleaner, fabric softener, degreaser, bronze and brass polish, and more.
