Black Bar Lodge offers 16 private log cabins nestled amongst the trees and two rooms inside the main lodge. Each cabin is gracefully decorated in a rustic lodge style with private bathrooms and at least 2 beds. Two of Black Bars cabins offer up to 5 twin beds for larger groups.
William Blacks mining claim dates back to the late 1800′s, Tom Orderman from Portland, Oregon, purchased the claim. Tom built the Lodge 1932 with help from local miners. The lodge was primarily used to entertain friends and business associates as they packed down the Rogue River trail to visit their good friend, the famous western writer, Zane Gray, at Winkle Bar.
Black Bar Lodge is located at River Mile 10, from graves creek. Now the Lodge is owned by Vanessa and John James. Vanessa and her husband bought an interest in the Lodge in 1992 and purchased the lodge fully in 2007. Vanessa was raised at Black Bar Lodge seven months of the year, her mother and father had purchased the lodge in 1960. Bill and Sally Hull (Vanessa’s parents) ran guided Rogue fishing trips all through the 1960′s…
