Acoustic Barriers Reuse Post-industrial Scrap To Eliminate Noise, At AIA Convention

United Plastics Corp. will be available to show and discuss their family of “dB” sound control solutions at the American Institute of Architects 2010 National Convention in Miami at Booth #2519.

June 7, 2010 - PRLog -- The United Plastics Corp. is introducing new sound control barriers manufactured from industrial scrap that would otherwise be deposited in landfills. These sound barriers reduce noise transference in walls and floors by 75%. United Plastics’ “dB” line of sound control solutions (www.SoundProofMyHome.com) are designed to be a low-cost, pre and post construction application to walls and floors in homes, apartments, offices or in any application where sound elimination is needed.

United Plastics Corp. will be available to show and discuss their family of “dB” sound control solutions at the American Institute of Architects 2010 National Convention in Miami at Booth #2519. They will debut dB-5iber™, a sound control application for existing walls that has a fabric look and feel.

Acoustic Engineers at United Plastics recognized acoustical properties in material left behind during some of the production processes at luxury auto manufacturer facilities. United Plastics is now utilizing this waste to create easy-to-install membranes that eliminate sound between walls and floors. These dB™ barriers are much lighter than drywall-based sound barriers and are sold in rolls for interior walls and subfloor applications.

dB-3® and dB-4looring™ are applied during the construction phase. The dB-3 installs beneath the drywall. dB-4looring is a subfloor application designed to eliminate the transference of airborne noise through floors and ceilings. dB2-4Walls ™ and the new dB-5iber is a post-construction application for consumers and remodelers who wish to eliminate sound in homes, offices, apartment complexes, and any structure where sound elimination is desired and existing walls are in place. dB2-4Walls and dB-5iber is easily installed using a vinyl adhesive. dB2-4Walls has a surface that can be painted over, while the new dB-5iber has a fabric surface designed to fit the typical office aesthetic.

“We wanted to create a light-weight, less-expensive option for eliminating sound that also helped out the planet,” says Jack Nagy, Vice President of Sales for United Plastics Corp. “We’ve created options for pre and post-construction phases that are lightweight, very easy to install and block noise up to 75%.”

The dB acoustic barriers weigh less than 1 lb/ft2 and are sold in rolls of 4’x 8’. Manufactured in Mt. Airy, NC, these acoustic barriers are impermeable to moisture and pass ASTM E-84 fire and smoke tests.
