2010 marks the 150th anniversary of the first Japanese diplomatic mission to the United States and its enthusiastic reception in New York City on June 16, 1860.
On June 6th, 2010, Japan Day, New York’s largest Japanese summer festival, was held at Central Park in New York City. On the event, Samurai Parade was demonstrated by more than 100 casts for the cerebration of the 150th anniversary. All the casts wore kimono and made a parade at Central Park in Samurai styles.
Mode & Classic LLC / Kimono Hiro in NY proudly supported this parade. Hiromi Asai, CEO of Mode & Classic LLC, instructed to dress samurais in old kimono styles.
Many students of our kimono class volunteered to dress 50 samurais. Samurais got applause from many New Yorkers.
