Installing a hot tub is more than just sinking it into the hole that is dug out for it or filling it up with water and plugging it in.

June 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Since it involves a certain amount of water usage, you will need to have your plumbing for your tub done. How does a hot tub get installed and how do you get your plumbing done for your tub?

“…While you may get a professional to do this for you, it wouldn't hurt you if you knew how they do it and what is involved in the plumbing process of your spa or hot tub…” Added Xaviera Arata

What Do You Need

Your new spa or hot tub will need to have a water inlet or a source where your tub can be filled up with water. You will also need to have a water outlet or a drain where the used water can be cleared out of your hot tub or spa. These are the two basic plumbing needs of your tub and you should know how these are integrated into your spa and hot tub assemblies.

Basic Components

There are quite a number of spas and hot tubs that you can install on your own and can be easily filled with the use of your basic, everyday garden hose and drained with the simple pulling out of a stopper or a water plug. While there are hot tubs that are as simple as this, not all of them are built this way and a lot of hot tubs and spas require a bit of plumbing and installation to get them to work properly. Those tubs that require a bit of plumbing work need a few of these parts for proper plumbing installation:

1.    PVC elbows and PVC are the pipes that carry the water in and out of your hot tub or spa and are usually used for filling and drainage purposes.

2.    Flexible PVC pipes are often used for the plumbing of the jets of your hot tub.

3.    Fittings are the parts that connect one part of your pipe with another and one plumbing fixture with another. These come in many shapes and sizes for your many different plumbing needs.

4.    Valves, there are quite a number of valves you can choose from to help you control the water flow towards your hot tub.

5.    Suctions suck in the water that is recycled and blown back into the tub in the jet streams that you see and feel when you sit in your hot tub.

6.    Filters and Skimmers are also essential parts of hot tubs and spa plumbing installations and more often than not found installed into the tubs themselves.

These are some of the more important plumbing parts of your hot tub or your spa and are needed for your tub to function properly. When you do install your spa's plumbing, you will need to have your water pass through a heating unit to get your water heated enough to the temperature that is often used in hot tubs and spas. You will also need to consider how far your tub is to your main water source for you to effectively measure out the length of hose or pipes needed for the plumbing of your hot tub.

Aside from choosing individual components for your hot tub or spas plumbing needs, you can actually buy a complete set for your tub from certain plumbing supply stores. How you can install your tub's plumbing and what you may need will have to depend on the kind of hot tub you have and the kind of installation you have to do.

“…There are also tubs that come complete with these plumbing installations and instructions on installation and repair for your specific tub…” Added Xaviera Arata
