Join The Art Connection along with local artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts on Tuesday, June 15th from 5:30-8:30 PM for a special screening at the ICA Boston of Herb and Dorothy, the incredible true story of the world’s most unlikely art collectors. The Art Connection, founded by artist Fay Chandler, is a Boston based nonprofit with the mission of placing artwork donated by local artists and collectors onto the walls of Greater Boston community service agencies. Since 1995, The Art Connection has been helping organizations build their art collections and create an accessible “museum without borders” for their clients and staff. The donated art impacts these deserving agencies by stimulating dialogue, creativity, learning and healing.
Herb and Dorothy tells the extraordinary story of a postal worker and a librarian who built a world-class art collection with very modest means. This delightful film by Megumi Sasaki won the Best Documentary Prize at the 2009 Provincetown Film Festival and the Audience Award at the 2008 Hamptons Film Festival. ICA Associate Curator Randi Hopkins will introduce the film and lead a Q & A after the screening about finding and buying art that you love, on a budget.
In appreciation of collectors big and small, The Art Connection is sponsoring this unique evening event to celebrate artists and collectors who make art accessible to people from all walks of life. This program begins with a reception and cash bar at 5:30 PM, followed by the film screening at 6:15 PM. This event is free with an RSVP received no later than June 7 at http:// tinyurl.com/
