(Oakton, VA) – Mosaic Harmony, an interfaith, multicultural community choir based in Northern Virginia, was selected to perform at the summer fundraiser benefitting Faith In Action, a leading nonprofit organization which services citizens of the Winchester, Frederick, Clarke and Shenandoah counties in Virginia. The concert will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, W. Cork and N. Loudon Streets (Downtown Mall) on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 4:00pm.
The concert, which is open to the public, will be one of the final performances of the choir’s 17th season and is their first for the Faith in Action organization and will feature selections from the choir’s wide ranging repertoire as well as some original songs penned by the choir’s director that were performed at their spring concert.
Through the generosity of qualified and compassionate volunteers, transportation is provided to persons in the community who lack the means to get to and from medical appointments. June and Carl Hess, both of whom are members of Mosaic Harmony, recently relocated to the Winchester area and strongly believed that Mosaic Harmony would be the ideal group to perform for this event. “We just believed that our message and music were absolutely perfect for the event and were thrilled that the date was available for the choir to be there”, said June who sings in the Alto section. “I agree, we didn’t have any doubts that the choir was the right fit for this event and we’re very excited that we are a part of it,” noted Carl who sings in the Bass section.
Faith in Action, (“FIA”) is supported by 38 local congregations and provides training for those wishing to become FIA volunteers. All FIA volunteers must complete a driver safety course (paid by FIA), submit to a background check and are trained by Valley Health. Due to increased demands for services in recent years, dedicated volunteers and staff have been able to meet the demands, but this concert will assist FIA in adding to their modest budget and build their capacity to serve the community.
