As a 70's child and born in East London, Martin West knew at a young age he was destined to live and work in a creative industry. By the age of 5 he was astounding school teachers with his natural flair for drawing and by 1984, combining his love for electro hip hop music, breakdancing and art, Martin found his 'spiritual home' in the brightly coloured and graphical world of street graffiti.
Transferring his skills to paper and canvas came easy to Martin, and it was not long before he needed to make a decision about his future. With a love for Art, History, Design and Music, Martin applied for a place at the world renowned London Institute which consisted of St Martin's School of Art, The London College of Fashion and The London College of Printing and Distributive Trades, the latter of which Martin attended and was awarded a National Diploma in Design with distinction.
On leaving college, Martin had it in his head to carry on studying and get a degree in Fine Art, but had his plans interrupted during the summer break of 1991. He was invited to an interview by award winning designer and merchandiser Christopher Blackwell, at Fortnum & Mason's, the famous department store in Piccadilly, London.
After having his portfolio viewed, Martin was offered a place in their design team immediately and began working there within weeks.
His work there lasted four years and during this time, Martin picked up a wealth of experience in three dimensional design that covered prop-making, decor and lighting.
After this period, Martin was fortunate enough to land some exciting musical projects as a songwriter and producer which he supplemented with a job as a bespoke picture framer, keeping his hand in the art world.
This brings us to where he is now; an established commissioned artist whose love for many different artistic genres and influences means his own style is constantly evolving.
Whether it's a renaissance sketch or a full blown piece of street art on a living room wall, a graphic design or a pop art acrylic on canvas, Martin West is soon becoming an innovator of fresh ideas with a future that is as bright and colourful as the work he produces.
With client’s ranging from celebrities to nightclub owners or family members to friends, Martin West and All Eyez On Art is fast becoming the number one source for creative and innovative design solutions.
In his own words. "There is no right or wrong, but only there is............"
