GN solids control equipments have been used for environment friendly project. We rather to doing some jobs for oily sand or oily water separation to clean the beach. Recently we got many inquiries from worldwide client who is searching for oil, sand, water separation solution for the problem cased by oil spill accident.
BP Oil Spill Live Feed Update:
Oil is seeping into Louisiana’s fragile marshlands, which serve as critical wildlife as well as a natural buffer against Gulf storms. But the soft soils in the marshlands pose a challenge to cleanup efforts, since the rakes and pressure hoses used to clean rocks and sand during the similarly devastating Alaskan spill would tear the marshes apart, according to NPR. Officials are considering controlled burns of the oil to clean out the marshes, though that could prove just as lethal to the plants.
But GN equipment can do only a small part job for the separation. We can separate the sand from the oily slurry. But the rest separation including oil and water separationcan not be reached.

The possible flowchart is as follows:
1 sand water separation
We use a shale shaker(if there is some large solids larger than 0.5mm), hydrocyclones(
2 oil and water separation
Victor Marine’s 80 years experience in providing solutions for bilge water treatment has incorporated the latest technology to ensure that their Oily Water Separators comply with IMO regulation MEPC 107 (49) introduced in January 2005.
The VM Series Oily Water Separator uses a 3 stage process which achieves less than 1ppm when tested by IMO. Constructed from 316 stainless steel and mounted on a modular skid and has a capacity range of 0.5m³/hr to 4.2m³/hr which can handle heavy fuel oil, diesels and emulsified oil.

Another opinion about oil sand separation is to use the cyclone. A slurry of contaminated sand and water is delivered to a solid/liquid hydrocyclone (2) surmounting a pressure vessel (1). That is divided into two sections (3, 4) by a bulkhead (5) leaving a gap between the sections at the top. The partially cleaned sand from the hydrocyclone (2) is dropped into one section (3) while the water is directed to the section (4). The sand is then fluidized with clean, preferably recycled water and directed back through the hydrocyclone (2). This is repeated several times, progressively cleaning the sand. Oil removed by the process floats on the water in the section (4) and is discharged to drain (22). Provision for degassing the pressure vessel (1), discharging the fully cleaned sand, and for flushing and draining the pressure vessel is made.
