38 Hot Steps Into The Spotlight As Lyrics, Hooks And Beats Tell His Musical Story
For Atlanta-based rapper 38 Hot, also known as Samuel A. Jackson, rhymes and beats are more than music to
the his ears—it’s his life. This 23-year-old has proven himself to be self-sufficient by producing music videos
and writing songs as an independent artist. Over the past few years, 38 Hot has played in local clubs and
venues around the Philadelphia and Atlanta area like Apache Café, Scores and Club Miami. But after his
innovative-style of music, featuring strong vocals and raw talent hit the scene, songs like “I AM” featured on
mix tape “Streetz” on lock volume one with Beanie Seagle, Freeway, and Gillie the Kid and the teaser video
for “I Got ‘Em” shot in Atlanta by the Lahyt Company, a devoted mass of followers were hooked.
The artist is currently in the recording studio working on his new single with 1-Stop Entertainment entitled “I
AM.” The independent music video for “I AM” was shot at various East Coast locations, including New York,
Baltimore and Wilmington by Rennie Rox Films and featured on YouTube and World Star Hip Hop. He’s also
caught the attention of Affix Music executives for the submission of “I’m a True Star” for song writing, while
preparing for a summer 2010 tour in Germany.
Although, his life is moving in a new direction… it hasn’t always been without struggle. His passion for music
started during his childhood as his mother began introducing him to gospel music in church. He sang in the
choir while developing an appreciation for other forms of music as well. His first experience with rap and hip
hop came when he volunteered to spit rhymes for a company Christmas party at age seven. As a youngster in
high school, he joined his classmates and started freestyling in the lunchroom. But as fate would have it, 38
Hot made choices that landed him in prison when he was just 18 years old. During his incarceration, he
continued to write rap and hip hop. He quickly realized his talent could take him places that he’d only dreamed
about. By the time that he was released, he had written over fifty songs. But he didn’t stop there… he attended
the Art Institute of Atlanta and studied audio engineering to perfect his musical skills.
Today, his musical life continues with another score as he sings a whole new tune. He wants to share with
others what he’s learned about life through his music. He often tells teens that even if you fall, you can get
back up because there’s another way through life that’s trouble free.
