FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun 04, 2010 -
We have completed our first update of our Global Biotechnology Capital Providers Guide which include over 900 investment firms and 4,000+ contacts on companies that invest in biotechnology, life-science, medical devices as well as e-health/health informatics industries.

We will be adding more investment firms especially updating those from emerging markets and Asia Pacific regions in June, customers of our Global Biotechnology Capital Providers Guide will also receive complimentary updates as well.

We have updated contacts of these investment firms, and in our next update, we will also provide further segmentation to the guide, identifying what sectors they specialize in.

In short, 2010 is an interesting year for biotechnology sectors, although the sector may not attract as much attention as in the case for cleantech/renewable energy sectors; there have been much more activities compared to 2009.

Certain sectors have especially attracted more attention from investors, especially medical devices and E-health sectors where there are less R&D risks involved, and the demand for medical devices has been increasing steadily and is now one of the most important exporting industry for Western companies to China, which is another reason behind the growth. Medical devices is a very broad term which can include preventative and treatment devices; as well as specific devices for ageing population including hearing aids, sleeping assistance devices, optical equipment and diagnostic devices analysing medical results.

E-health on another hand has been highlighted by us as a key sector to attract investments. They are often classified as technology investments rather than life-science related investments. The increasing adoption of E-health systems, as well as global standardization for medical reports, file transfers; supported by advancements in telecommunications infrastructure have been key catalysts behind the success of many E-health companies; and subsequently for venture capital investors.
