There’s art and then there is Roycroft. Inspired by highest principals and juried by Master Artisans, Roycroft Renaissance Artists are dedicated to quality, originality, and excellence in design. These artists must be juried annually, while only a few elevate to Master Artisan status. The Roycroft Renaissance started in 1970s when a group of residents planned to preserve ideals that made the Roycraft Campus a center for the Arts and Crafts Movement. The organization is nationwide, gaining a professional recognition as a higher standard for artists.
“To have such a diverse group of artists together doing a demonstration is rare,” Aimee Ward from Finger Lakes Gallery and Frame says. “There are only a few artists in the area that achieve this status and we are proud to showcase their work.”
The artists featured are Leah Corey, who works with bead weaving and bead embroidery, Elizabeth Andrews who etches, and Marsha Van Vlack, who works on original one-of-a-kind tiles for wall hangings and installation.
There will be refreshments served and more information on the Roycroft movement available during the demonstration for the public to enjoy.
