June 4, 2010 - PRLog -- And the surrounding lands were rough gardens, vegetable patches, and belonged to the Grosvenor family, who then leased Pimlico to Thomas Cubitt.

The origin of the name ‘Pimlico’ is unknown, and one or two claims suggest that firstly the name came from ‘Pamlicos’ a tribe of North American Indians who traded lumber with London in the 17th century.  On the other hand a more likely story is that it came from a local drink, or publican, named Ben Pimlico.  Lastly others say that Pimlico was named after a residential bird that nested in these parts, but no one really knows for sure.
