Some people are uncomfortable using products such as hair extensions, wigs and hairpieces that are manufactured with 100% human hair.  There is usually a sense of apprehension upon learning that the origin of the donor is unknown. The truth is; that human hair makes the best hair additive products because of their versatility and durability to change its style, texture, and/or color without worry.  Also, human hair is the preferred supply as the strands themselves can endure direct heat for styling purposes.

Although significant advancements have been made in the product production of synthetic fibers, there is no comparison to that of naturally grown human strands.  Ranging in origins and ethnic backgrounds, natural colors and textures – hair additives made with natural human hair may create looks that match perfectly with one’s facial features, creating an individualized look.

Many hair additives derive from Indian donors.  Indian hair is smaller in diameter and is available in a variety of fiber types that range from fine, straight, medium or thick, in curly, wavy, or straight in textures.  Most Indian hair is received unprocessed because most women of India do not color or treat their hair making it 100% virgin.

As the pioneer of hair extensions, in 1985 I was appointed by the Indian minister of foreign affairs noted my expertise and I collaborated with the Indian hair suppliers and their staff on processing the hair from its naturally dark state of color to the lightest of blondes creating an assortment of virgin hair colors - including reddish, blonde, and brunette tones.  India has become the pioneer of hair extensions (as Europe was encountering a shortage and continues to fall behind to this day) making different types and manipulating strands to emulate European or Caucasian strands as through this origin great lengths of hair is difficult to come across and the prices are significantly higher.

Currently, the most common hair used for hair extensions continue to be from Europe and India.  Other types such as Caucasian hair are seldom obtained from various countries such as Russia and other parts of Europe.  The issue with using natural Caucasian hair is that many women who donate their hair have already undergone multiple color processes and texture treatments, depleting the hair of its naturalness.  Caucasian hair is oval in shape and naturally is known to be fine to medium in terms of its density.  Available in all colors; the lightest of hairs are known to be finer while the darker hair tends to be more coarse and thicker.  Caucasian hair must be carefully selected when in preparation for hair extensions, wigs, and hairpieces.  Hair that originates from Russia is also smaller in diameter and virgin hair is more common to come across as many women do not color or treat their hair – making it another recommended alternative when making hair extensions, wigs and hairpieces.
