The first graduating class from the Plus Size Academy Bay Area will be accepting their accolades on Friday June 4, 2010. The five-week intensive program was developed to help women with curves achieve the necessary tools and resources within the current and evolving market for full figured models. In addition to learning about the industry for plus size models, coursework includes techniques for the runway, photos, hair and makeup, foundations, personal style, and the business of marketing oneself as an entrepreneur and a free agent.

The Plus Size Academy Bay Area opened its doors in April 2010 as a satellite office of The Plus Size Academy in New York, which has been a leader and driving force in the development of full figured models since 1999. The Plus Size Academy Bay Area is proud to have brought in top Bay Area talent to conduct workshop classes. At the helm, regional director Marie Denee Leggette, e-commerce entrepreneur, fashion stylist and author/blogger of the Curvy Fashionista.
Fellow instruction staff: Charleston Pierce multi talented runway coach and event producer – Charleston Pierce Presents; Dana Roeting, veteran full figured print model and industry lecturer/advocate;
The Plus Size Academy Bay Area also welcomes those who are seeking to build the necessary confidence and poise to promote themselves in business and social settings.
The graduation celebration will be held at Club Anton, 428 3rd Street (@ Broadway – Jack London Square) Oakland, CA. Doors open at 10PM – Dress Code enforced.
