Edgerton Immigration Attorney Leads Session on Immigration Hot Topics

RALEIGH, NC — Edgerton Immigration Law, an immigration law firm in Raleigh, North Carolina, announced that founding attorney, Laura Edgerton, recently delivered a session at the 2010 Members in Business and Industry conference hosted by the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Her talk focused on hot topics in business immigration and was given Thursday, May 27th to a full-capacity audience at the Embassy Suites hotel in Cary, North Carolina.

Among the topics covered, Ms. Edgerton provided an overview of the U.S. immigration system and the legal procedures for hiring foreign nationals in an increasingly global economy. The session also provided an overview of immigration compliance issues for businesses, including I-9 compliance and the E-Verify program.  She also discussed current immigration reform proposals and their potential impact on businesses.

A fifteen year practitioner of immigration law, Laura Edgerton is listed as a 2010 North Carolina Super Lawyer® in the field of immigration law and has also been listed as one of The Best Lawyers in America® in the field of immigration law since 2008. She is frequently invited to speak at national and regional immigration conferences on topics including permanent residence, H-1B non-immigrant visas, H-3 and J-1 training visas, and employment verification/I-9 issues. She is the immediate past Chair of the Carolinas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and a former member of AILA’s Board of Governors. She is currently the Vice Chair of the Ethics and Practice Management Committee for AILA National.
