Hollywood, FL: Mark Eryk is not your typical artist, he is an artist that brings his paintings to life. He first started painting for therapy following a tragic auto accident in August of 2000, due to a drunk driver that placed him into a wheel chair. Since that time, he has done many paintings of various types. Mark attends a local Artist group that meets weekly under the supervision of Artist Barbara Benezra. In this group, each artist is allowed to be creative with their work while she critiques and make suggestions as they progress. Afterwards, the artist would have a Group Showing at the Anne Kolb Nature Center located in Hollywood, Florida.
“That was the begining of my new life”, states Mr. Eryk from his book entitled "A New Life". His book details his experiences and gives his formula for healing that was expressed through his first 36 paintings.
Mark Eryk is happy when painting as it gives him something positive to contribute to society. He is proud to contribute some of his works to charitable causes as he feels commitited in doing his part to making our world a better place. Mark has become an Active member of The Mirca ArtGroup, an International Coalition of Professional Artists. As a member, Mark Eryk has contributed his work for publication with proceeds going to benifit charities such as Amnesty International and Green Peace. Mark has also done work that will be in the Human Rights Tour that is exhibited in many galleries around the world.
Mr. Eryks reflects back to one day when a dear friend of his asked him if he would do her portrait. After completion, he soon discovered that he had also had a talent for doing realistic work, and not just from his own imagination. He found that a combination of doing the more challenging portrait work combined with his fantacy backgrounds, became a success.
During the last three years, Mark Eryk has undergone several surgeries that have enabled him to leave his wheel chair and once again walk. This has given him a new freedom as an artist and be able to get around and be more involved with the community.
Mr. Eryk is thrilled to be donating two of his paintings being done especially for the Miami Marine Stadium for the Sunny Isles 3rd Annual Offshore Powerboat Challege Weekend for Charities hosted by Actor/Comedian “Guy Richards”.
