Thirteen is also a lucky number for Australian Barbara Martin and husband Kevin. They checked in as the first guest at Inter-Continental Fiji's brand new resort within a resort, Club InterContinental, the first of its sort in Fiji.
Mrs Marti, a true InterContinental traveler, has stayed in 13 Club InterContinental locations around the world, including Singapore, Sydney, Hong Kong and Bali.
The unbelievable milestone was backed by the reason for the Martins' visit. While staying at the resort Barbara was celebrating her 72nd birthday.
"Club InterContinental is always my first choice when I'm travelling to a new place, so I was thrilled to hear about the opening of InterContinental Fiji's new Club and honoured to be the very first guest to check in, " declared Mrs. Martin.
Clio Creswell, Mathematician and senior University of Sydney lecturer, comments, “Singles can increase their chances of finding true love by rejecting at least 12 potential partners before settling down.” This she says , would dramatically decrease the number of divorces.
Rejecting at least 12 people increases your chance of making it work by 75%, according to Creswell.
Taylor Squint, singer, says that the figure 13 is a lucky number for her. She was born on December 13 and relates most of her outstanding life functions to that figure. She was identified wearing the figure 13 drawn on the back of her hand.
At the age of 13 a boy signifies maturity and commemorates his Bar Mitzvah in Judaism.
Several successful sports figures have worn the digit 13. Wilt Chamberlain – Basketball; Dan Marino – American football; Ozzie Guillen – baseball; Sigurour Sveinsson – handball , Olympian Chris Mullin; Olympian Yao Ming.
