Robert W. Pittman and Andrew Russell Join Daily GeekChicDaily’s, Roster of Investors

June 2, 2010 - PRLog -- NEW YORK -- Traditional and digital media icon and former COO of AOL Time Warner, Robert Pittman, adds GeekChicDaily to his portfolio of media investments. Pittman and his partner, Andrew Russell, were investors in DailyCandy prior to its sale to Comcast in 2009 and are currently invested in the thriving daily email newsletters Thrillist, geared towards social males, and Tasting Table, designed for foodies.  

GeekChicDaily, a daily shot-in-the-arm focused on all things popular culture (comics, video games, toys, gear, film, television and applications) debuted in October 2009. It was founded and is run by digital media veteran Peter Y. Levin and Gareb Shamus, publisher and founder of Wizard Entertainment. Gareb currently publishes Wizard, ToyFare and FunFare magazines and owns and operates 12 comic cons across the U.S. GeekChicDaily’s current investors include Mandalay Entertainment Group CEO and former Sony Pictures Chairman and CEO, Peter Guber, Japanese media juggernaut Yoshimoto Kogyo and the Jel Sert Corporation.

Andrew Russell will join the advisory board of GeekChicDaily whose members include former DailyCandy CEO, Pete Sheinbaum, Broadway Video CEO, Jack Sullivan, Habbo SVP, Teemu Huuhtanen, Akinobu Yorihiro of Yoshimoto Kogyo and Russell Binder of Striker Entertainment.
