PRLog -- Fort Worth, TX – Chief Rudy Jackson handed over his title for the day to Mr. Thomas in honor of his 100th birthday. The Fort Worth Fire Chief pinned his badge on Mr. Thomas as part of the birthday celebration and announced that he was Chief for the Day. Mr. Thomas said that he would keep watch of the city from his porch. Ridglea Country Club provided the special coconut flavored birthday cake. Mr. Thomas had no problem blowing out the tripled candle lit cake. The Meals On Wheels client was joined by his family from all over the metroplex. When asked by Tim Hardeman, Fort Worth Fire Department Spokesman, what his secret to a long life was, his reply “don’t die”. Mr. Thomas sat and enjoyed his morning with the Fire Chief reminiscing his past 100 years in perfect detail. Mr. Thomas fought in World War II, the battle of Normandy and personally knew General Patton. But before parting ways guests were treated to another Thomas original pearls of wisdom: “If you give in don’t give up and if you give up don’t give in”. With that, everyone knew they would return next year for his 101st birthday.
