Affluent Management Group To Acquire High Desert Investments

June 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Affluent Management Group, Inc (AMG), a corporate consulting and marketing firm, agreed to buy High Desert Investments (HDI), its first acquisition of a private-equity manager.

The purchase, spearheaded by John Davis and the first in AMG’s history, extends the Denver, Colorado-based company’s move into so-called alternative assets, which also include hedge funds and real estate.

“AMG is growing its focus into alternative investments, and this acquisition fits the bill,” said John Davis, the company's COO. “While we continue to make our core business and book of clients small and personal, we cannot neglect the fact that we have an opportunity to grow our reach in a variety of arenas, and High Desert Investments gives us that opportunity.”

John continued to state that private equity was growing in importance to institutional investors. “Increasingly it is a core element for investors worldwide,” he said.

When completed, the acquisition of HDI will add a significant percentage to its earnings, as well as give the company a new arm in the investing market.

Two-thirds of institutional investors said they plan to make new commitments to private equity this year, according to a survey by Preqin, a London-based researcher. Private-equity firms raised 61 percent less money in 2009 than in 2008, according to a report Preqin published in February 2010.

AMG’s purchase of HDI was its second deal in the past two months involving high-yield investment firms, following the partnership with Capital Investment Group, a South Dakota based real estate investment company.
