FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun. 2, 2010 - New laws for temporary workers come into effect in the UK from October and in Ireland from December, 2011. Called the agency workers directive (AWD), this change impacts upon anyone employing temporary workers for more than twelve weeks in one assignment. It means new entitlements for temps akin to permanent staff after just a short period of continuous service, and information for some of which, must be provided to them from the first day of their assignment.

These planned changes to employment law could affect pay, duration of working time, night work, rest periods, rest breaks, time off for expectant mothers and annual leave. A key impact will be holiday pay entitlement and the ability for employee management systems, such as payroll, to be able to count twelve weeks per temp, with each hirer. Should a temp be reassigned by their existing agency to a new client, their twelve week count will need to start again, before they can receive their full entitlements. Any systems connected to that temp will need to be dynamic enough to count twelve weeks and give that employee what they are permitted to have, when they are allowed to have it, by law.

Are your pay and bill, front office management systems, credit control and financial systems integrated and dynamic enough to make this change? Ours will be. If you know you need to change your systems to comply with the law, why not contact Safe to find out about our plans for this change. We can even provide training for your staff or outsourced staffing services to use our staff and software in your business. As this change happens in this tax year, now is the best time to get in touch and start thinking about migrating your systems.
