He was a co-founder of Johnson-Grace Company, a pioneer in digital compression that was purchased by AOL and has served as Skila's Director and strategic advisor for over ten years. Batten also served as Managing Director at The First Boston Corporation in New York and an Executive Director of CSFB, Ltd. in London and was in charge of the Capital Markets Departments in both organizations. Subsequently, he was a General Partner of the Blackstone Group and of Lazard Freres & Co.
