PANDA and PamperBoxes Join Forces For New Mums

PANDA - the post and antenatal association of Australia - and PamperBoxes - an online retailer of heartfelt gift boxes - have signed a partnership agreement to provide 1000 fact sheets to women currently suffering from postnatal depression.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - May 31, 2010 - PANDA, the Post and Antenatal Depression Association of Australia, and PamperBoxes, an online retailer of heartfelt gift boxes, have formed a partnership to provide assistance to the many Australian women currently suffering from post natal depression. Sponsorship funds will be used to produce 1000 fact sheets detailing effective strategies for dealing with the illness.

Both PANDA and PamperBoxes share a commitment to supporting families at the time of the arrival of a new baby and in particular supporting those families experiencing the many challenges of new parenthood. In the words of Michelle, PamperBoxes’ Director, “On a personal level, I have had three episodes of postnatal depression – my sons are now 18, 12 and three years of age. I know that postnatal depression does eventually go away but I also know that this knowledge doesn’t necessarily help while you are in the depths of depression. I am well aware of the importance of education and support for sufferers and their families and I have certainly accessed PANDA’s website on a number of occasions. Personally, I feel proud to support the important work of PANDA.”

Michelle explains, “The idea for PamperBoxes came to me after being hospitalised in 2009 for major depression. Psychology staff suggested keeping a ‘self-soothing box’ containing items that bring some comfort emotionally when feeling particularly low. Suggestions included music CDs, journals, hand creams and bubble baths and, of course, chocolates. I thought this was a great idea but I also thought that when you are feeling depressed it is difficult to muster sufficient motivation for even the smallest of tasks. The alternative I came up with is a PamperBox – to be given as a gift.”
