Got a Well-Behaved Pooch?

May 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Northwest Working Dogs will be hosting their 4th Annual Expo on June 12 and 13, 2010 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds, St. Helens, OR.  Admission is free, parking is $5 or a food donation for the Pacific Northwest Pit Bull Rescue http://www.pnwpbr.org.  Canine Good Citizen testing is $25 and will be going on all day, both days of the expo.  Pre-registration is encouraged but not mandatory - to register in advance, go here: http://www.nwworkingdogs.com/sign-up.php.

What is the Canine Good Citizen test?  It is a test of basic manners for your canine companion.  The test is comprised of 10 parts, ranging from accepting a friendly stranger to a sit and down on command.  Test specifics can be found here: http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/index.cfm.  This test is fairly simple and straightforward, but it can help you and your dog immensely!

*These are manners every dog should have, getting a cool certificate to prove it is just icing on the cake!
*Many restaurants, hotels, and stores will give your pooch carte blanche access to accompany you inside if you have this certificate!
*Some employers will even let your dog come to work with you after this achievement!
*Some homeowners and renters insurance will give you a discount or overturn breed restrictions if you have this certificate!
*Motel 6 and Suite 6 give you and your dog a discount if you have this certificate!

The test is lots of fun, so come on down and give it a whirl!

The expo boasts tons of other fun stuff to do while you are there.  There is a Protection Dogs International Regional Trial, and International All Breed Canine Association Conformation show, the American Temperament Test Society test on June 13th, and lots of great vendors and food too!  This is sure to be a fun-filled outing the whole family can enjoy!  Make sure to mark your calendars for June 12th and 13th to come to the Columbia County Fairgrounds in St. Helens, Oregon.
