The idea for Aria Melody DJ was born in 2001 when Paul & Nicole Sinclair met while working for a major record label in New York City. When they were planning their own wedding two years later, they found it challenging to book a DJ that was focused on the couple rather than a performance with lights, smoke machines, and blow-up toys. From that moment, they realized there was a need in the wedding industry for a professional, entertaining yet savvy wedding DJ. In 2004, Paul teamed up with his brother, John Sinclair, who had 15 years in the music business, to create Aria Melody DJ.
Aria Melody DJ, which only agrees to take on 3-4 weddings a month, takes a custom approach with each client by getting to know the couple and develop a tailored playlist that’s reflective of their taste. Specifically, the company helps couples develop a signature "Melody Mix," which is a tailored playlist for the ceremony or reception based on the couples’ preferences for music genre, places they've vacationed, or songs that have special meaning to them. Best of all, Aria Melody DJ comes with its own "do not play list" so there is no scary "Macarena moment."
With professional dress, no self-promotion, constant sound monitoring and limited time (if any) on the microphone, owner John Sinclair handles each booking himself. Aria Melody DJ’s library consists of 50,000+ songs covering every era including Motown, funk, salsa, 90’s, hip-hop, Top 40 electronic, dance as well as more eclectic genres such as Indie or Gypsy Rock.
“I’m in my early 30s and have been to a lot of weddings with mispronounced names and embarrassing props. I strive to get everything right where most DJs go wrong,” says John Sinclair of Aria Melody DJ. “Plus, given the current economy, many couples in the NYC area are choosing DJs over bands, so there’s even more demand for a unique, refined and fun DJ like ours in the area,” he added.
