First Annual Cade Prize

The Cade Museum Foundation will sponsor its first annual competition to recognize and promote Florida innovators.

May 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Gainesville, Florida – May 25, 2010 – The Cade Museum for Innovation and Invention is named for James Robert Cade, the physician, musician, researcher and inventor best known for leading the University of Florida team that created Gatorade. The mission of the Cade Museum is to promote a culture of creativity and innovation. That is why they are celebrating inventors in our community.

The Cade Museum Foundation will sponsor its first annual competition - beginning this year - to recognize and promote Florida innovators. The award will consist of a $50,000 cash prize, funded through a generous grant from the Gainesville Community Foundation, plus one year of in-kind support provided by the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce and access to the Gainesville Technology Enterprise Center (GTEC) and its programs. The competition is open to Florida-based innovators who are taking their first steps towards commercialization.

“The First Cade Prize affords an opportunity to celebrate achievement and our community’s shared innovation initiative,” says Jackson Sasser, President, Santa Fe College.

Four finalists have been chosen as of May 31, 2010 and the winner will be announced on June 11 after their final presentation in front of a panel of nationally recognized judges.
