Now in its 6th year, Steel Bridge Songfest (June 10-13) continues to showcase the talent of our nation's youth.
On Thursday and Friday from 6-10 pm, the all-ages stage will showcase many area high school age rock bands, including How 'Bout No, Whiskey Paunch, and The Sommer, a four piece group of two sets of brothers.
Another highlight is the acoustic showcase of songwriters "21 and under" hosted on Friday from 8 to 10 pm by Tarl Knight, 14, of Ashwaubenon, WI. Featured youth songwriters include Liam Hall, 13, from Atlanta, GA; Jared Johnson, 18, from Kansas City, MO; and Door County Idol 2010 runner-up, Monica Lenius, 17, a student of Southern Door High. All of whom are also participating in the "Construction Zone," a week-long collaborative songwriting event that begins on Sunday June 6th. Past Construction Zone participant and Door County favorite Seth Raddatz, 17, of Bailey's Harbor, WI will be performing as well as 19 yr old Austin, Texas artist Curtis McMurtry.
The weekend outdoor festival at the foot of the Michigan Street Bridge, will kick off on Saturday June 12th with a song from Corinna Rae, 16, of Green Bay, WI. Corinna has opened the outdoor festival a capella every year since its inception in 2005. The Sunday street festival will feature Orpheus, an award winning 9-piece ska-band from DePere, WI and Tallan Noble Latz, the ten-year-old blues prodigy from Elkhorn, WI, a crowd favorite at Steel Bridge since 2008.
