A fully-online certificate program in Intelligence Analysis is also available

May 27, 2010 - PRLog -- Based on the demand from busy adults who desire flexible and convenient online degree program options, Central Pennsylvania College is now offering two of its existing programs in the online format. With the addition of an online bachelor’s degree in homeland security management, an online associate degree in computer information systems, as well as an online certificate program in Intelligence Analysis, the College now offers twelve fully-online degree programs and three fully-online certificate programs. Approved by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the new online programs will begin to be offered during the summer 2010 term that begins on Monday, July 5.

“At Central Pennsylvania College, we continually evaluate our degree programs to ensure we’re offering the degrees that are most relevant to students today,” said Dr. Melissa Vayda, vice president/chief academic officer.

There are 250 online degree-seeking students taking virtual classes with Central Penn in the spring 2010 term, which represents 20 percent of the total student population. The number of virtual students has nearly doubled since last spring. To effectively teach this number of students in an online environment, the College has more than 70 online faculty members throughout the United States.

“We are happy to see our online programs continue to grow to meet the demands of our student population,” said Online Education Coordinator Erika Wilkinson. “The bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security Management and the associate degree in Computer Information Systems are now both fully-supported online, and allow our students the flexibility to earn their degree while continuing to meet the demands of their personal lives.”

Since Central Penn admits students on a rolling admissions basis, those interested in enrolling in the new online programs can apply at www.centralpenn.edu or contact Kristen Markus, online enrollment director, at kristenmarkus@centralpenn.edu or 1-800-759-2727 (ext. 2288). For more information about Central Penn’s online program, contact Erika Wilkinson at erikawilkinson@centralpenn.edu or 1-800-759-2727 (ext. 2535).

Among the hallmarks of a Central Penn education is a focus on career success for its graduates and the application of philosophies and policies that prepare students to become productive employees. Based on the college’s most recent one-year graduate survey, 92 percent of graduates were employed in their chosen field or continuing their education within one year of graduation.

Central Penn’s mission is to provide an education that prepares its graduates to obtain employment or advancement in their chosen field, continue their education and be contributing members of society.
