By: Peggy Kalia “I am proud to join such a prestigious group,” notes Dr. Efferen. “It’ Prior to her appointment at South Nassau, Dr. Efferen served as the associate chair of the department of medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center for more than eight years. Prior to that she served as chief/division of pulmonary and critical care medicine at SUNY-Health Science Center in Brooklyn. She held a number of other positions during her tenure at SUNY-Health Science Center. Dr. Efferen is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine. She has been listed in the Consumers Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Physicians, Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors: New York Metro Area (for seven years), Best Doctors’ Best Doctors in America and has received a host of awards/honors.
