Babel’s Paint and Decorating Stores awarded the Retailer of the Year Award

May 27, 2010 - PRLog -- Norwood, MA May 26, 2010 = Babel’s Paint and Decorating Stores recently received the Retailer of the Year award from Dan Simon, PDRA Executive Vice President. PDRA presented the 2009 Top-of-the-Line Retailer Awards in Las Vegas on Wednesday, at the PDRA Show, part of the National Hardware Show, which took place on May 4-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Babel’s Paint and Decorating Stores won for promotional innovation of the year and overall excellence in the classification.

Babel's sells a wide assortment of products, including paint, wallpaper, draperies, window treatments and much more. The Babels stores also have a growing selection of “green” products that are eco-friendly and reduce exposure to harmful vapors and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Babels prides itself on it’s knowledgeable staff who are friendly and pay attention to details. The stores are located in Norwood, Needham Center, Foxboro and Canton, Massachusetts.

Victor Babel, Sr. and his wife, Mickey, opened the first Babel's store in 1950 in his hometown of Norwood, MA. Babel's quickly developed a reputation for quality paint and wallpaper products, personalized service and attention to detail.

Twenty years later, Victor and Mickey's youngest son, Vic, Jr. with the support and partnership of his wife Jeanne, the second generation of Babel's took over the business and began seeking opportunities for growth.

In the early 1990's it became clear that Babel's was not just a paint and wallpaper store. With the addition of professional designers, it had grown into a full-service decorating center. In 1994, the store name was officially changed to Babel's Paint & Decorating Store.

In 1996 Vic and Jeanne opened their second store in Jeanne's hometown of Needham, MA, followed three years later with the addition of the Foxboro store. In 2005, Babels acquired a paint store in Canton at Cobb’s Corner which they quickly renovated to include design services.

From 400 square feet in 1950, Babel's stores have grown to four locations. With more than 30 employees – Babels is pleased to continue its path of growth, success and service to the community.
