Omniac Announces 6-week Summer Academy

Omniac is offering two 6-week Summer programs. One course targets college bound graduates and will prepare students for higher-ed course work. The other is designed for high school students and will provide ACT prep, plus improvement of study skills.

May 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Omniac Education announced today that it will offer two 6-week Summer Academy courses to high school students and 2010 high school graduates in the Albuquerque area. The courses are called 'College Bound' and 'High School Prep for Succes.' They are scheduled for June 28th, 2010 to August 6th, 2010 and will run daily from 10:30am to 4:30pm with a break for lunch.

'College Bound' targets 2010 graduates and will thoroughly prepare students for their higher-ed course work. 'High School Prep for Success' is designed for upper level high school students and will provide ACT coaching as well as rigorous coursework that will keep study skills sharp in lieu of the summer holiday.

Said Mark Truman, Omniac's Executive Director, "It is an unfortunate reality that many of New Mexico's students are not prepared to compete academically with students from other parts of the country.  Our state's math, reading, writing, and science classes all have failure rates that should make us cringe."

Truman continued, "While students obviously benefit from a break over the summer, it is also a time when these important skills grow weaker, damaging a student's chance of success in the fall.  This summer, we hope to correct part of that trend and work with students to improve their educational skills rather than let them atrophy. This is why the Omniac Summer Academy is an exciting program for us here at Omniac Education. We are confident that students who enroll in the course will be more than prepared to rise to the top of their class in the fall!"

The two program's courses will all be taught by certified Omniac Premier instructors. They will provide instruction in math, science, language arts, and study skills. Students will read novels, short fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and plays. They also will participate in science lab work, and will learn proven strategies, tips, and tricks for successful study habits for high school and college. Students in both courses will receive one on one tutoring that will focus on the individuals weaknesses. Additionally, students participating in the 'High School Prep for Success' course will receive 20 hours of ACT coaching and guidance for their college search.

"We're really excited to see a solid turnout of serious students for the classes," said Holly Sauer, Omniac's Assistant Marketing Director. "We can't wait to get students into a classroom environment that is small and engaging to build their core skills. Most importantly the courses promise to be a lot of fun!"
