Cincinnati, OH, May 26, 2010: Hearing the Pines of Rome by Respighi—live and for the first time—is an incomparable sonic experience nobody ever forgets. For the first time ever, Cincinnatians will be able to experience this incredible and exciting work in a perfect acoustic environment, with no cost of admission!
The performance is in honor of the Seven Hills Sinfonietta's 35th anniversary. SHS music director Michael Bohnert Wheatley has assembled the largest group in its organization's history–more than 70 experienced musicians from all corners of the Cincinnati community—to perform the massive and beloved work by Respighi.
"The Seven Hills Sinfonietta is one of greater Cincinnati's best kept secrets—an unusually skilled, dedicated, and passionate group of musicians," says Maestro Wheatley. "Again and again, we hear that our performances are far more exciting and moving than anything you might expect from a part-time arts organization."
The event will be held on June 13 at 3 p.m., at Greaves Concert Hall at Northern Kentucky University, where the acoustics of the hall are ideally suited to the trumpets' fanfare.
Concert program:
Rachmaninoff, Piano Concerto No. 2 (Lisa Dexter Fairfield, Piano)
