May 26, 2010 - PRLog -- THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF.--The 2nd Annual Tropical Daze Summer Music Festival, July 24 and 25 at the Thousand Oaks Community Park (2525 Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks), has attracted local non-profit organizations that will participate in the festival and raise money for their groups.

A portion of the overall festival proceeds will benefit Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning (CV NfL), a local chapter of First 5 Ventura County. This non-profit organization helps children ages 0 to five reach their highest potential through quality education and programs that encourage family involvement. "An area of Tropical Daze will be set aside especially for preschoolers, with bubbles, games and crafts," says Janet Fleming, executive director of CV NfL. "Tropical Daze is a family-oriented event. We're grateful to have an opportunity to tell parents about our affordable preschool programs. This is also the second year that Neighborhood for Learning will receive a donation from Tropical Daze to help fund our classes and programs."

Tropical Daze organizer Randy Strong is a volunteer board member of Adopt-A-Future, a 501 (c)3 foundation created to raise funds for CV NfL. "Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning has become an integral part of the education services available to our community's young children," says Strong. “It offers the skills necessary for young children to be successful in school at an affordable cost to parents.”

Another nonprofit participant is Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks. It will provide volunteers to help set up and take down festival booths. "Ascension Lutheran has been offering this type of muscle power to events throughout the Conejo Valley for years," says Strong. "Their volunteers provide an unsung, yet vital service."

The Thousand Oaks Kiwanis Club and Conejo Valley YMCA will set up booths in the Tropical Food Court during the two-day festival. Many Mansions will provide volunteers to help sell beverages and Newbury Park Rotary’s Interact Kids will help with event staffing. The Conejo Valley Chapter of the National Charity League will greet festivalgoers, hand out leis and staff booths. The league fosters mother/daughter relationships and encourages participation in charitable activities. The Ventura County Sheriff Explorers from the East County Sheriff Station will direct traffic during both days, and will also provide their DART volunteers for the first aid booth.

Admission to Tropical Daze is free. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Featured bands include "Urban Dread," "Masanga Marimba," "Yoki Daiko" (Japanese Taiko Drums) and "Island Rhythms Production (Trinidad steel drum band). An authentic luau buffet and live show presented by "Na Hoaloha o Polynesia" will be featured Saturday evening, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ($21 per person in advance).
