The time where everyone began to spend their series from 2D to 3D was a very uncomfortable. We saw many heroes die by developers who failed to lead to a three-dimensional plane aspects of the games that made us so happy when they had only two dimensions. That's why we decided to make a list of 15 games going from 2D to 3D ruined all the good they had done so far.

1. Contra: Legacy of Wars
Contra is regarded as one of the best action games ever. And if we consider that the genre that best benefited the three dimensions was actually the action, do not understand how Contra: Legacy of Wars may be a bad idea. Still, it was, was a bad idea. For some reason the camera perched above the action and it was very difficult point and see what was coming ahead. Indeed, they were all bad decisions. Finally, the game offered real 3D graphics if you put the typical blue and red glasses, but to our surprise, the lenses get the picture became so dark it was impossible to see what was happening on screen. Ironic, right?

2. Fade to Black
For those not aware, Fade to Black is the sequel to Flashback, that title of platforms with incredible animations and a great story. Well, as expected, Fade to Black took the same concept and put it in 3D. The result was not horribly bad, but definitely not good. Although for the time graphics and animations were great, also suffered the curse of the chamber possessed, at times, made the game unplayable. The story remained as compelling as before, but when the game itself does not let you play, it becomes a bit frustrating.

3. The Simpsons Wrestling
Oh yeah, it only needs read the name to know that this game was a mistake since the beginning. 3D games based on the license of The Simpsons are all very bad, but ultimately decided to stay with this because there is virtually nothing salvageable. If you remember the arcade game, then you know how good that game was the most beloved family television, but from then on were all mistakes. Still, the wrestling game rises above the rest of the crap for being boring, unbalanced, as few games and simply wrong.

4. Worms 3D
Why? Why would anyone think to make a Worms 3D would be a good idea? If the greatness of this game is that you can see each character on the screen and give orders from a comfortable angle and detailed graphics. The only reason it was not a horrendous failure (although it was not) was because they still had the charm that makes the series irresistible. From then on, the rest was pretty bad. The weapons were funny, but it was very uncomfortable playing in the 3D perspective with which we were forced to play. None of that Team17, return to 2D.

5. Simon the Sorcerer 3D
If you were present in the old days of graphic adventures, sure to remember the young and inexperienced magician, Simon, whose first two adventures have convinced us that other companies, as well as LucasArts, could make good adventure games. However, the 3D evolution did not bring good news for this character. The title remained the same charm that the previous games, we are not going to argue, but the graphics, controls and camera, were disastrous. Every aspect of the game, a real disaster.

6. Project Altered Beast
If you know the name Altered Beast, you are correct. That was the name of a great title for Genesis and Commodore 64. In this title you played as a human could become a wolf to increase attack power and had a version for PlayStation 2 in 2005. Again ... Why? The original was great and all that was good in was eliminated in the PS2 version. Although they were very problematic development, to the point where almost was canceled, but when he left because he felt old and forgotten quickly. That's why almost no one remembers. One moment ... What game we were talking about? "Pac-Man?

7. Fallout Brotherhood of Steel
Here we are big fans of the old Fallout games, that's why we took so enjoy Fallout 3, beyond how good it is, the tone is too different to the original. Yet there is one particular game that still is a perfect example of how not to make a game of a license, not yours. Moreover, the problem was not so much 3D, but the game itself was a disaster. For starters, I had nothing to do with the Fallout universe and that this is one full of details and historical events. For some reason, developers built ignored everything that Black Isle to create original games and decided to invent what they want. I need not speak ill of the game, he is ruined by itself.

8. Pac-Man World http://www.pcgametrek.com/pac-man-pc-game-2010/
If there is a play on the face of the earth who never, ever, should have been 3D Pac-Man. That stupid yellow circle basically invented the 2D, "why would you pass it on to 3D!? All it does is eat fruit and ghosts who treat you badly! Pac-Man World tried to be a Mario 64 for PlayStation, but it was never even close to the Italian plumber. Pac-Man World trivial ended up being a platform game that all he did was to give bad name to the yellow bubble.

9. Escape from Monkey Island
Originally considered to put this title in the list, but as many people seem to have enjoyed it, finally decided not to add it. However, it seems that many of our readers as much as we hate it, so by popular demand, the fourth installment of Monkey Island is added to the list. And the problem with this title was not so much 3D, but yes, it was horrible and the control scheme similar to Grim Fandango did not play to it in the slightest. But more than anything was bad, because it was not true to the original series in any respect. The jokes were terrible and not in the same style I used to have, and the story was just pathetic. I do not want to ruin the ending, but it turns out that giant monkey head was actually an ancient robot hidden under the floor. For the love of God! It should be noted that none of those who worked on this title had to do with previous games, even with the third, despite not having the original developers ended up being pretty good. Yes, Escape from Monkey Island was a very bad decision.

10. Prince of Persia 3D
No, obviously not referring to the latest trilogy or the last, but the first who tried to be in 3D. He had no relationship whatsoever with Jordan Mechner, and it showed! If something was good in this title was the level design. They were both unique and cleverly used all the things that made the first so dear. After that, it was a great disaster. The camera did not help, and for some reason, all characters had an overly large head. Finally, the controls. If a platform game controls do not think having to respond to every move you make, the better or do a platform game.

After so many bad titles, what have we learned about 3D games? For starters, the developers had a lot of trouble to invent a camera that does not make the game unplayable. That is, if anything in common with these early games in 3D, the camera was a contradiction to the games, making them at times, impossible to play. The good news is that today the 3D is done very well, but that does not mean they do not enjoy 2D games like Braid and Splosion Man

This teaches us that we must accept that certain concepts work best in a 2D plane. No matter if you sell more if 3D or not. Think of what works best for the game and then on to develop it with that in mind. If only the industry bigwigs read this page ... the world would be a better place.
