May 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Devon, PA, May 25, 2010. Liberty In Home Care owner, Pam Rakoczy, has been nominated for the Helena Devereux Women in Leadership Award. This award is sponsored by the Mainline Chamber of Commerce and the Devereux Foundation. Helena Devereux, an entrepreneur in the early 1900’s, fought through the barriers of her time, leading the way for future generations of professional women. Through personal sacrifice, innovation and unrelenting resolve, her small business grew – and, today, is one of the largest non-profit providers of behavioral healthcare in the nation. Nominees for the Helena Devereux award are women who exemplify Ms. Devereux’s spirit; they have achieved significant professional and personal accomplishments and have ethically and memorably impacted the Greater Main Line area.

“Pam Rakoczy embodies the values and Helena Devereux and the Devereux Foundation, whose mission is to change lives and nurture human potential,” says Robert Burnham, President of Burnham Financial Services, who nominated Rakoczy for the award.  “Pam Rakoczy has helped more than 150 physically and cognitively-impaired people, mostly seniors, remain safely in their homes, enabling them to live to their fullest potential. Many more family members have the peace of mind of knowing their loved ones are receiving compassionate care from a woman with more than 25 years of experience in occupational therapy”.

Centered in Philadelphia’s Main Line Region, Liberty In Home Care provides care for individuals for from a few hours a day to around-the-clock service, depending on needs. They help with anything from activities of daily living, such as eating, mobility and bathing, to medication, monitoring, errands and transportation. Because of Rakoczy’s business and health-care acumen, as well as her empathy for those with special needs, her business, Liberty In Home Care, has achieved triple-digit, year-over-year growth in every year since its founding in 2006. The business has created 82 jobs over the last three years and continues to hire an average of one new caregiver a week.

Not only is Rakoczy’s business helping the people it serves and employs, Rakoczy also gives back to the community. She offers educational programs on long-term-care funding and fall prevention, and serves on the board of Senior Care Ministries, which provides education on the special needs of older adults. Rakoczy has also trained her Italian Sheepdog, Max, to assist her in giving back to the community. He has been awarded a Canine Good Citizen’s Certificate and is the star of the Liberty In Home Care Pet Visiting Program. Max visits nursing homes, assisted living centers and hospitals for free, bringing people out of their shells, and putting smiles on their faces.
