The 2009 award for the first ever Rising Star Award was recently presented to Scentsy Candles by the Direct Selling Association (DSA) for outstanding achievement at the DSA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. The Rising Star Award is honored to direct selling businesses on the rise that have devoted themselves to achieving an elevated rank of excellence in company operations.
Scentsy candles started as an easy concept – a safe and wickless choice to scented flamed candles – and rapidly grew as consumers saw its attractive warmers as not just a safer choice, but, as a healthier choice. Scentsy has had yearly increases of more than 300% and now employs almost 500 individuals at 3 places of business, with yearly revenues topping more than $200 million.
Scentsy Candles’ achievement can be credited to an easy and useful product line distributed through independent consultants at home parties and online. “We always strive at Scentsy to bring value to customers by creating and selling high-quality products that warm the heart, enliven the senses, and inspire the soul,” said Orville Thompson, Scentsy CEO and co-owner. “We are honored that the DSA award’s committee has recognized our singular focus on quality and value in the midst of tremendous growth.” “This award further validates the success we have experienced,”
Every year, the Direct Selling Association holds its yearly convention and holds its once a year Awards Banquet. The many areas the DSA presents awards to are technology innovation, partnership, sales force development and program excellence. The five businesses honored at the DSA awards banquet were Scentsy, Inc., ACN Inc., Mary Kay Inc., Oxyfresh.com, and ServiceQuest.
