May 25, 2010 - PRLog -- With the summer holidays fast approaching, Willows Farm Village  near St Albans in Hertfordshire is holding their annual Summer Spectacular event with plenty to keep children entertained from the 24th July to 5th September.

Willows farmer Andrew Wolfe has planted an A-maize-ing Maze – grown completely from maize, an adventure the whole family will enjoy finding their way out of with a competition for the children to take part in.

Parents can let children burn off excess energy in the daily Willows Sports Day Races, an event exclusive to Summer Spectacular, where participants can enjoy old-school races including the egg and spoon and sack race. All children who take part will receive a certificate.

Around the farm Tristan the Runaway Tractor will be telling his summer story and the popular Sing-a-long-a Woolly sessions return with Willows Entertainer Chris Beebee and Farm Village mascot Woolly Willow the Sheep, leading children in well-known nursery rhymes.

Willows Summer Spectacular has something for the whole family and for all weather conditions. Outdoors, there are all the farmyard animals to see and many activities from Panning for Gold to Inflatable Bouncy Haystacks, Fun Fair Rides and the popular Tractor Trek. Indoors, there is plenty of fun to be had with Willows’ indoor play barn, Woolly Jumpers, featuring active play, ball pools and three exciting slides. A new activity for 2010 is Captain Chicken’s Egg Dodge where the Whites and Yolks team dodge each other’s foam ball eggs fired from the egg cannons.

Andrew Wolfe, farmer at Willows, says: “The maze has grown particularly well this year– making it harder than ever and even more fun to find your way around!

“This year our A-maize-ing Maze is full of cut-outs of different birds from Willows Falconry Centre who have ‘flown off’ to explore and enjoyed it so much they have nested there! Visitors can spot these birds and complete their form as they find their way through the Maze. We will draw a winner from the completed forms to win a £100 Willows voucher.”

“The Farm Village (http://www.willowsfarmvillage.com/) is wonderful in the warm summer months. There is plenty of space to run around and is also a great time to come back and visit the baby animals from the spring – children will be amazed at how much they have grown!”
