May 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Exercise-induced asthma is really more common that you think. More and more athletes, especially runners, are experiencing this. There are some studies that suggest the 100% increase of asthma in the past 20 years. The interesting note is that because of the onset of many vaccines, the immune systems are not being trained to fight off foreign bacteria. When you grow older and your systems get exposed to pollution and other things, then it is weaker.

Genetics is the leading cause of asthma. If it runs in the family and you are a part of it, chances are you will have it. There are also other factors that can trigger asthma attack - cigarette smoke, auto exhaust, pollen, household dust, dirty air conditioning system and insects. Inhaling bacteria than can irritate your system causes mucus to build up.  This may be easily solved by installing a dust collection system inside your house or office. Check out http://www.dustcollectionhose.org/dust-collecting-systems and http://www.dustcollectionhose.org/dust-collector-hose for your options. Other causes of asthma include infections like cold or flu, stress, allergies and too much exercise.

Exercise-induced asthma develops when lungs become too stressed out. It tightens as a defense mechanism.  Muscle-relaxing spray drugs can relieve symptoms but not for more severe cases. If the condition is worse, steroid-based drugs will be used. This drugs, however, is detected in the system and may cause problem if you are going to join major competitions. You need to work it out with the organization.

It is recommended for athletes with asthma to go steady instead of bursting through the race. A steady phase allows the body to adjust to the competition. All athletes would know that a warm up is important before any exercise. It is a common misconception for athletes to think you need to stretch before the work out. This is proven to be wrong. You need to warm up in the beginning and stretch in the end. This is critical for athletes with asthma.
