May 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Established in 1975, the school is part of the SKOLA Group of Schools. Alexanders offers foundation courses every term as well as one and two year GCSE courses with high-quality tuition in English. It aims to prepare its students for further education in schools, colleges or universities in the UK or other countries. Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Boarding School (http://www.alexandersschool.com/) strives to create an enriching atmosphere for the students, both academically and personally.

Development lies at the heart of the school ethos. It empowers students to cope with cultural, linguistic and ethnic differences, which many of them are facing for the first time. The majority of the staff has lived overseas and is well-equipped to help the students to understand and overcome the barriers to living in another country. The School also creates a friendly and caring environment and organises many school events and activities in which the students may participate throughout the year. This allows them to develop their team-work skills, self-confidence and discipline. A dedicated team of full-time coaches also encourages students to balance the academic curriculum with physical activity and offers them the opportunity to participate in unfamiliar sports, such as golf, mountain-biking, sailing and rugby.

In addition, the boarding school preparation (http://www.alexandersschool.com/default.asp?page=59) that the students experience at Alexanders International School will help them to adjust to any boarding school anywhere in country. The four residences on campus offer separate housing for girls and boys and the pastoral staff at each one will ensure that the student settles into the new environment as smoothly as possible. The bedrooms are airy with comfortable bunk-beds, plenty of space for clothes and desks where students can work in the evenings. Each bedroom has a small sink and on each corridor there are bathrooms, showers and toilets. The common room is equipped with a television and board games, and the students are encouraged to spend their free time here, where they can meet and talk to their peers. There is also a classroom in each house which is set aside for study, as well as a kitchenette where they can prepare snacks during the evenings or weekends.

The task of preparing for colleges and universities is a daunting one, and the School employs all its resources in enabling students to successfully overcome this obstacle. The students are primed for entry to all schools and colleges in the United Kingdom. Since the School is independent, it also offers unbiased advice in the selection of the most appropriate choice of school or university. During the Foundation Course, the students are aided by the faculty in applying to their chosen school or college. The training and encouragement provided to the students at Alexanders stands them in good stead as they prepare for life in the adult world.
