May 24, 2010 - PRLog -- The SMC7904BRB3 – which combines an advanced ADSL2/2+ modem, router, 4-port 10/100 LAN switch and SPI firewall – is the complete solution for connecting and sharing high speed ADSL broadband connections. With download speeds up to 24Mbps, the SMC7904BRB3 is perfect for getting the best out of IPTV, Video on Demand and other bandwidth-hungry media services.

The SMC7904WBRB4 offers the same range of functionality but also includes an 802.11g wireless access point, giving users the option to share their high speed ADSL connection either wired or wirelessly.

Configuration is made simple using the five-step EZ Installation Wizard. More advanced business users benefit from support for multiple SSIDs, enabling them to create different networks with unique functions and policies through a single access point.
Paul Luff, country manager, SMC Networks South Africa, says the offering takes ADSL connectivity to a new level and is expected to benefit the growth of the small-to-medium sized or SoHo environment.

“This solution is designed to enhance network performance, specifically within small office, home office environments. We are mindful of the requirement for cost-effective and user-friendly infrastructure that offers immediate benefits of all-in-one functionality, including higher speeds and reliable connectivity,” adds Luff.

Frank Emmerlich Product Marketing Manager for SMC Networks comments: “These new products are ideal for anyone who wants to get maximum performance out of ADSL broadband services delivered over traditional copper telephone wires.  Both solutions combine a modem and router in one cost effective package and include a range of advanced features that make them as appealing to network managers as they are to home users.”

Both the SMC7904BRB3 and the SMC7904WBRB4 include Quality-of-Service that gives priority to real-time, delay sensitive applications like Voice over IP and Video on Demand, improving the user experience.

Robust security is provided by a NAT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Denial-of-Service (DoS). VPN pass-through is also provided for businesses that want to set up users with a secure connection to their office network.

Key features, ADSL/2+ modem; ADSL2/2+ router; 4-port 10/100 LAN switch; Quality-of-Service; NAT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI); Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Denial-of-Service (DoS); VPN pass-through and Multiple SSIDs (SMC7904WBRB4 only); are expected to add significant value.
