Workers ran from an Australian back yard, where they were starting to dig a swimming pool.
Peter Collard of Brisbane, who is endeavoring to sell his house, said he had an urgent call from his real estate agent, telling him he should rush home because two men were digging in his yard.
"I rushed home to find this huge mess and about $20,000 (U.S. $17,700) worth of damage. These guys obviously knew there was something up and took off," Collard said.
Collard need to try to track down the perpetrators. He said his insurance is not covering the damage and pleaded to neighbors to come forward if they had recently arranged to have a pool dug in their yard.
In April 2010, Francis Howard, 69, of Denton, Texas, was also trying to figure out what to do, after bulldozers smashed down half her family’s long-time home. One of the workers suddenly realized they were meant to be demolishing the house across the street.
City records showed that the owner of the house the crew was supposed to demolish, was ordered to repair the building in January, or it would be torn down because of failure to secure the home, unkempt lawns, outdoor storage and junked vehicles.
The dozer driver, Jarius, didn’t even get permits for the house across the street, until after he had destroyed Francis’ family home. The utilities of water, gas and electricity were still connected.
Howard could possibly have the grounds for asking for an extension from the City officials for the repairs they have asked her to make by July 15.
A Tiki Island man, Galveston, claims in August 2009 workers commenced roof repairs on his house by mistake, while he was out of town. They then left his home opened to the elements when they realized their mistake.
Rice claims the un-shingled roof allowed water and debris to enter his home, ruining the interior. He says by the time Galveston Flooring realized it had made a mistake, a huge section of his roof had been stripped of shingles, but they did nothing to rectify the error.
Rice insists the nightmare caused him a high degree of distress and mental pain as he was temporarily displaced.
