Somalia President Sharif Sh Ahmed has rescinded his decision to sack Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid and to name a new cabinet.
A statement from the presidency said Ahmed has asked the prime minister
to continue his obligation after consulting with law experts on the
dismissal issue. He has called on all stakeholders to work in unity.
Prime Minister Abdirashid refused on Tuesday to step down and insisted
it was against the constitution. But the UN envoy to Somalia Ahmed Auld
Abdalla supported the Somali president's move to name a new Prime
Minister.
